NASW is a co-sponsor of the Circle of Life Awards. The Circle of Life Awards and AHA’s Age-Friendly Health Systems Initiative are hosting a free webinar on April 27^th showcasing the 2020 Circle of Life honorees and discussing the link between palliative and age-friendly care

Similar to previous years, the CDC’s Tips From Former Smokers® campaign will feature real people who have had life-changing, smoking-related health problems and their loved ones who care for them. The CDC is conducting a national search to find people with compelling stories who are willing to participate in our campaign. They are looking for people who used to smoke and have a smoking-related health condition.

The 2020 NASW Virtual Conference featured a breakout session “Best Practices at the Intersection of Pain Management, Opioid Use and Mental Health,” which highlighted efforts to reduce stigma and improve access to quality care for individuals living with pain. The presentation emphasized the importance of understanding the unique needs of people with chronic pain, mental health disorders, or opioid or substance use disorders.

The Climate Psychiatry Alliance and the Climate Psychology Alliance North America are recruiting allied mental health professionals who can deliver high-quality, climate-aware psychotherapy for inclusion in an online, public referral list to connect with interested clients and meet the proliferating needs of climate-stressed and climate-distressed individuals and communities.

FASD and alcohol use in pregnancy are timely issues for health social workers given the growing rates of heavy and binge drinking among women. This updated guide highlights recent resources that inform our clinical understanding of FASD and enhance practice skills for primary prevention of alcohol-exposed pregnancy.
