As part of CDC’s Collaborative for Alcohol-Free Pregnancy, NASW is working with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and other health organizations to promote prevention practices targeting risky alcohol use. AAFP’s new guide to using alcohol SBI in primary care provides strategies for implementing a team-based “Screen and Intervene” approach. Social workers will find tips and techniques that are applicable across diverse practice settings where women access clinical services.

This calculator is designed to assist community-based organizations and their medical partners in creating mutually advantageous financial arrangements for funding the delivery of social services to high-need, high-cost (HNHC) populations. These complex care populations are likely to benefit most from a holistic model of care that addresses the social determinants of health. This financial tool will calculate the return on investment (ROI) from integrating social services with medical care.

The National Center for Health in Public Housing provides training and technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of federally-funded health centers to increase access to health care, eliminate health disparities, and enhance health care delivery for the millions of residents of public and assisted housing. The National Center for Health in Public Housing hosts educational webinars to keep our community health center clinicians and others up to date on the latest issues, trends and developments affecting health care delivery to the medically underserved.

NASW is a proud partner of the Tips From Former Smokers Campaign. The CDC recognizes the important role of behavioral health providers in promoting smoking cessation and has a page dedicated to resources for individuals with mental health conditions.

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program (LRP) is open to Licensed Clinical Social Workers.  The program is for clinicians who are fully trained and licensed to provide culturally competent, interdisciplinary primary health care services to underserved populations located in selected Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) identified by the Secretary of HHS. HPSAs can be found in rural and urban communities across the nation. In return, the NHSC LRP assists clinicians in their repayment of outstanding qualifying educational loans.
