Schools of Social Work

Boston University provides courses on military families, and conducts federally-funded research on military families, including online MSW courses.

Dominican University and its Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) offers to all MSW students a concentration in Working with the Military and their Families. The Military Concentration will train MSW students in the knowledge and skills necessary to work with service members, vets and their families.

FSU is the first HBCU in the country to collaborate with the US Army to offer a master's degree in social work to active duty soldiers. The FSU-Army MSW Program at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is designed as a full-time accelerated MSW Program.

The Coming Home Project is an effort by the School of Social Work at Monmouth University to recognize and prepare social work students and community practitioners to meet the needs of returning career, reservist, and National Guard military personnel and their families. While remaining invested in social work’s historic commitment to work for peace, we are also cognizant of our duty to serve vulnerable populations, such as persons who have experienced combat either directly or indirectly.

Smith College School for Social Work offers courses in theory, clinical practice, social policy and a WEB based telephonic clinical seminar to our MSW students and a range of CE courses in our Continuing Education program. Smith also offers eight month long clinical internships at Walter Reed National Medical Center and 17 Veterans Administration Hospital settings throughout the country.

The School of Social Work at UCF offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. Each program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program prepares generalist social work practitioners skilled in the design and delivery of social services across a wide range of practice settings.The Master of Social Work (MSW) program prepares generalist and advanced clinical social work practitioners to engage effectively in clinical social work practice to promote human and community well-being through assessment, intervention and evaluation.The school also offers doctoral-level education in social work through the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs.

University of Connecticut offers military and veterans content in MSW curriculum and through professional development activities to social workers and other human services professionals.

University of Nevada, Reno offers education on military and veteran culture through the VetSMART program.The university also offers the master of social work through online courses.
