Armed Forces Services Corporation’s legacy goes back to 1879 with the formation of a nonprofit organization established to care for surviving spouses from The Battle of Little Big Horn. In June 2000, AFSC was spun-off from the organization and was formed as a Virginia registered Corporation, owned by a new Board of service-disabled veterans. AFSC brought with it our reputation for expert human services delivered by selfless people. We operate as a “double bottom-line” company with both business and humanitarian goals. And when in conflict-every employee knows that our mission goals come before our business goals. Our “mission before business” culture allows us to attract a special breed of selfless staff- providing the government fast, hardworking people.

Our banners have been seen in every conflict since. On the battlefields of Europe and in far flung reaches of China, we were there taking care of the military fighting for our freedoms.

The Community Covenant program is designed to foster and sustain effective state and community partnerships with the Army to improve the quality of life for Soldiers and their Families, both at their current duty stations and as they transfer to other states. It is a formal commitment of support by state and local communities to Soldiers and Families of the Army - Active, Guard and Reserve. While Community Covenant is an Army program, it extends to the other Military Services as well, recognizing that many community efforts support all Service Members and their Families regardless of the uniform they wear.
