World AIDS Day 2007
On December 1, 2007, communities and organizations around the world will commemorate
World AIDS Day. For many persons, HIV /AIDS continues to result in social isolation, loss of jobs and other financial repercussions, discrimination and a myriad of related health disparities. World AIDS Day is an opportunity for social work practitioners to provide leadership in the global community’s efforts to stop HIV/AIDS.
Social workers should advocate for maximum access to testing, diagnosis, care and treatment for all persons living with HIV/AIDS. Social workers should provide leadership in advocacy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels to improve the quality of life of all persons living with HIV/AIDS and to protect their civil liberties.
