The focus of World AIDS Day 2010 is "Universal Access and Human Rights." World AIDS Day is about increasing awareness, fighting stigma and discrimination, improving education, and advocating for access to care, treatment, and support.

The focus of World AIDS Day 2009 is "Universal Access and Human Rights." For social workers worldwide, World AIDS Day is an opportunity to remind others that HIV/AIDS remains a global health issue. 

Americans Speak About HIV/AIDS was created to encourage organizations, schools, businesses, research institutions and other groups to hold discussions about the strategic steps we need to take as a nation to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The theme for World AIDS Day 2008 is Leadership. For social workers worldwide, World AIDS Day is an opportunity to remind others that HIV/AIDS has not gone away and that there is still much to be done.

World AIDS Day is an opportunity for social work practitioners to provide leadership in the global community’s efforts to stop HIV/AIDS.

HIV/AIDS does not discriminate. With an estimated 1,039,000 to 1,185,000 HIV- positive individuals living in the United States, with approximately 40,000 new infections occurring every year.
