NASW and CMSA Support Social Work Role in Case Management Standards
Revised Standards Include All BSWs and MSWs
The release of the recently revised Standards of Practice for Case Management represents the collaborative efforts of NASW and the Case Management Society of America (CMSA). The revised standards, which provide valuable guidance to social workers and other professionals practicing in a variety of health and mental/behavioral health settings, have been well received by case managers of multiple disciplines.
Unfortunately, the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) has taken issue with certain sections of the standards, including a standard promoting all social workers as qualified case managers. NASW continues to uphold the revised standards as published and appreciates the support of CMSA in doing the same. NASW applauds the role of all social work case managers and encourages social workers to download the revised standards for review and use.
