Social Media Toolkit for
Social Work Month 2025

Celebrate Social Work Month 2025!

People enter the social work profession because they genuinely care about other people. However, social workers have the education, training, and expertise to empower people so they can live to their full potential.

That is why this year’s theme is Social Work: Compassion + Action.

Here are our suggestions to help you share information about the positive work social workers do during Social Work Month 2025 and beyond.

General Social Media Strategy

Did you know that late nights and weekends are peak times for social media engagement? Many social workers are working hard during the day, so be sure to post when they’re most likely to see your content — during lunch hours, after work, or over the weekend!

Post frequency:
- Facebook/Instagram: At least once or twice a day.
- X, BlueSky, Threads: Two to three times daily.
- TikTok: At least a few times a week—three times daily to build an audience. Use trending music specifically for commercial use.

Videos, GIFs, and images are your friends! Canva, Adobe, CapCut, PlayPlay, and other tools are great for creating eye-catching content that sparkles. You can find some free images on Pixabay.com. Be sure to give credit.

Tip: Don’t forget to look directly at the camera when making videos. Personal engagement works best, especially when you’re addressing your audience directly! Mobile videos work best vertically, but you can and should make them horizontal as well.

Platform-Specific Tips

TikTok

Get creative with short, punchy videos (15-30 seconds works best)! You can:

Showcase social work events or share snippets of your day-to-day life (but not clients unless you have permission from them and your work).
Step outdoors for a more relaxed vibe—parks, beaches, or even your backyard can be great places for video shoots.
Jump on viral challenges to keep your content fun and trendy—while staying true to the professional message.

Pro Tip: Use trending sounds/music, add captions, and don’t forget your voiceovers. If you’re shy, you can always film in shorter increments (15 or 30 seconds to 1 minute).

Connect your TikTok to Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or LinkedIn, and remember to share your TikTok videos across multiple platforms. Use the #shorts hashtag on YouTube for even more visibility!

Threads

On Threads, be personal, impactful, and direct:

Share stories of Social Work: Compassion + Action, what motivates you, and how social workers impact your community.
Engage with your audience in comments—ask questions like, “What does compassion + action look like in your life?”
Post updates on events or news about Social Work Month!
Remember Threads no longer uses # symbol

X (Twitter), Bluesky and Facebook

Post snappy, engaging updates about your social work journey and encourage others to join the celebration. Remember to include relevant images or GIFs for maximum engagement. Hashtags like #bluesky and #SocialWorksky can help
