Military Social Worker Dr. Olymphia O’Neale-White is 2024 Recipient of Emerging Social Work Leader Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is pleased to announce Dr. Olymphia O’Neale-White, DSW, LCSW, is the recipient of the association’s Emerging Social Work Leader Award for her unique approach in educating and training a new generation of social workers while serving as a clinical social worker in the U.S. Army.

The Emerging Social Work Leader Award honors an NASW member who has been in practice for five years or less and has demonstrated outstanding contributions as a leader at the beginning of their career.

Also known as “Dr. O,” O’Neale-White is passionate about education, professional development, advocacy, and public speaking. O’Neale-White founded Through My Lens Consulting Services LLC, where she provides career consulting services, resume review, job preparedness, and employment services. Her goal is to provide leadership-building experiences for students and post graduate professionals.

She has shown a dedication to find ways to educate and improve service outcomes for people, even as a new army officer and emerging social worker.

O’Neale-White earned a sociology degree from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Curious about how government policies affect communities, she obtained a master’s degree in social work at North Carolina Central University in 2019 and her Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky in 2023.

Motivated by personal reproductive health challenges and the loss of a child, O’Neale-White has also dedicated her time to improving reproductive education.

O’Neale-White is a behavioral health specialist, a mental health social worker for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and adult victims advocate and job coach. She also volunteers and teaches—guiding her students as an adjunct professor at various universities.

She is just getting started in her career, and NASW is confident she has an even brighter future ahead. We “congratulate her on receiving the 2024 Emerging Social Work Leader Award.
