NASW is joining in national, statewide and local efforts to promote the second annual National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD), April 16. Inauguration weekend was a busy one for NASW staff and members. NASW obtained a number of tickets to several inauguration events since it avidly supported Barack Obama in his campaign for the presidency and because NASW Executive Director Elizabeth J. Clark served on Obama's Women's Outreach Committee. NASW also had a strong representation at the Democratic National Convention. Additionally, NASW recently filed two friend-of-the-court briefs in cases addressing custody disputes between same-sex couples. Decisions Reached The U.S. Supreme Court reached a decision in Crawford v. The positive efforts by Marc Jacobs were highlighted in a column by Julia Spitz published in the MetroWest Daily News in Massachusetts. Jacobs is chief executive officer of Jewish Family Service of Metrowest. The column highlighted the Jewish Family Service's program that helps to reduce achievement gaps, both academic and social, for vulnerable students at Framingham's Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.
