The COVID pandemic highlighted the need for self-care particularly for social workers working in complex often demanding settings. This presentation will focus on better understanding stress and self-care, with a focus on changes made to the NASW Code of Ethics that make self-care a moral and ethical imperative for social workers.

This workshop will aim to build your confidence as a speaker and share key tips on engaging with your audience and the power of your voice.

9 p.m.-10:30 p.m.

This workshop will focus on best practices to use when serving neurodiverse individuals as professional social workers. The effects of racial injustice, equity, and access to support services will be discussed as well as how social workers are addressing these disparities.

12 p.m.-1 p.m.

This workshop responds to the strong call for social workers to provide supports and service that demonstrate an understanding of the lived experience of the women involved in the criminal justice system.

Objectives:

• Become culturally aware about the experience of women’s reentry and develop an understanding of how you create a supportive environment in which your clients can thrive.
• Understanding intersectionality and why knowing the clients lived experience is so vital.
• Confronting your own values and how they influence the work
• Look at best practices and solutions that will best serve women returning home from prison or jail.
