This series of Town Halls is focused on the following:
  1. Acknowledging the history and current ways that white supremacy and racism exist in social work practice;
  2. Creating goals to achieve a racially just profession;
  3. The development and implementation of an action plan and action groups to achieve these goals.
This session will be focused on how we take care of ourselves and each other as we continue to experience these traumas and as we actively work towards changing systems, practices, and policies.

Adopting a Trauma-Informed Perspective in Social Work Practice and Supervision

In the first half of this workshop, the presenter briefly summarizes the trauma-informed perspective and its guiding principles. She then identifies core social work skills that embody TI practice and illustrate their application using case examples taken from a range of practice settings. In the second half of this workshop, the presenter identifies supervisory skills that reflect a TI orientation and presents case examples to illustrate their application.

Child Abuse & Trauma: A Life Time of Anxiety and Insecurity

This workshop will focus on the general core concepts of child abuse, the subsequent trauma experienced by individuals and the impact of the experience while growing up. We will discuss case examples and applications of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing taught in a simple to understand manner, that can be used to address to mental health struggles that can occur due to child abuse trauma.

Hospice and Palliative Care

This course is designed for beginner-intermediate social workers interested in learning more about the use of Hospice and Palliative Care for clients with life limiting illnesses. The course will also discuss the role of the social worker in end of life care and will address the appropriate use of each program. NASW Standards for Palliative and End of Life Care will also be reviewed.

Effective Measurement of IEP Goals and Objectives for Social-Emotional and Behavioral Skills

This training is a follow-up to the in training entitled ‘Writing Effective IEP Goals and Objectives for Social-Emotional and Behavioral Skills’. It is preferred that individuals took part 1 but it is not an absolute requirement, as we will briefly review key takeaways from part 1. In this training, participants will learn how to make effective measurement choices for measuring IEP goals and objectives, learn how to chart and graph student progress data, and learn to write rubrics to measure complex social and behavioral skills.
