Advocacy is an important component of professional social work practice. The goal of this event is to build the capacity of social work students to understand the legislative process and identify strategies to influence social policies and programs. The program agenda will include a keynote presentation, remarks from Legislators, report on bills being introduced, workshops on providing testimony the legislative process, how to analyze a bill, legislative advocacy, Social Work Careers in Legislative Advocacy, and other topics.
