This workshop will focus on best practices to use when serving neurodiverse individuals as professional social workers. The effects of racial injustice, equity, and access to support services will be discussed as well as how social workers are addressing these disparities. The presenters will share their personal and professional experiences with neurodiverse individuals, and participants will learn interventions to use with clients and communities they serve.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will be able to describe the current research on the disparities faced by neurodiverse individuals.
  • Participants will be able to translate this knowledge into an understanding of the challenges faced by neurodiverse individuals, their families, and communities.
  • Participants will examine and learn about services that can be utilized to support neurodiverse individuals and address issues such as inclusion, equity and access to support services for neurodiverse individuals.
  • Participants will learn specific techniques and interventions they can utilize to support neurodiverse individuals.
  • Participants will be introduced to techniques for advocating for the inclusion and support of neurodiverse individuals.

CEU Provider Statement: Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, provided by NASW-CA.
