This webinar will provide participants with an overview and in-depth examination of compelling ethics and risk-management challenges in social work.

Dr. Frederic Reamer will explore high-risk ethical issues and practical strategies designed to protect clients, practitioners, and employers. The webinar will include a series of challenging ethics cases and explore practical steps that professionals can take to manage ethical issues skillfully. Key topics will include boundary issues, dual relationships, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, privileged communication, informed consent, clients’ rights, termination of services, practitioners' and clients' use of technology, social workers' role in legislative and other avocacy, and impaired professionals, among other issues. Dr. Reamer will discuss relevant ethical standards; statutes, regulations, and case law; national practice standards; documentation; supervision; and consultation.
