Clinical Work with LGBT+ Older Adults: The Importance of Cultural Humility and Inclusive Services

NASW New Jersey

6-8 p.m. ET

This workshop will review issues pertaining to older adulthood and will explore the unique challenges faced by LGBT+ older adults. Clinical competencies identified by both the Council on Social Work Education (2015) for Gero-Ed Social Work and by Fredriksen-Goldsen and colleagues (2014) will be discussed. Intersectionality and how to be culturally humble will be a key focus so that practitioners can aim to provide welcoming and inclusive services.
