2024 Social Work Pioneer® Program and Luncheon

The NASW Social Work Pioneers®️ program honors members of the social work profession who have contributed significantly to the evolution and enrichment of the field. The program recognizes individuals whose trailblazing commitment has improved human and social conditions domestically and, in some cases, globally.

On October 19, 2024, NASW and the NASW Foundation will continue its annual tradition of honoring influential members of the social work community by electing them as Social Work Pioneers®. The program identifies and recognizes individuals from across the country whose exceptional dedication to the profession has improved social and human conditions in unique and vital ways. This year, 25 change-makers will join its distinguished ranks.

In the social work profession, pioneers have often paved the way for others to follow. They try new things. They persevere. And, when successful, their peers model what they have done and adapt their methods for use in their own communities. Whether it’s a groundbreaking government program or legislative initiative, or creating unique tools to impact behavioral change, these women and men are celebrated by their colleagues for their achievements and impacts.

Since its launch in 1994, the Pioneers®️ program has inducted some 900 individuals to its distinguished rolls. Their stories can be found here.

This year’s event, in Washington, D.C. will feature speakers, student panels and will, of course, honor the newest Pioneer inductees. Representatives from social work colleges and universities will be represented as well. Please read more about the program here.
