NASW Continues to Advocate for Telehealth Extensions

Congress has until the end of March to act on extending telehealth flexibilities in Medicare. NASW is advocating for extension of the telehealth flexibilities or to make them permanent. One issue of particular concern to social workers is the 6-month in-person requirement for telemental health services, which does not apply to other telehealth services. We are seeking to fully repeal this requirement.

Social workers can contact their members of Congress through our Action Center to urge that they extend or make permanent Medicare telehealth flexibilities.

NASW Clinical Practice staff have provided a Tips and Tools, Update on Telehealth Waivers for Clinical Social Workers.
