Annual Meeting of Members to be held June 21

The NASW Annual Meeting of Members will be held at noon ET on June 21 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (Wilson AB), 2660 Woodley Road, NW, Washington, D.C., 20008. Members in good standing (current membership and no pending sanctions) are invited to attend. To RSVP, please send an email to Governance.

Call to the 2017 Delegate Assembly posted online

The official “Call to the 2017 Delegate Assembly” is posted on the NASW website. This marks the start of the Delegate Assembly (DA) activities, most of which will be conducted online. The timetable for all activities is also posted on the DA website. The Delegate Assembly web pages can be accessed on the NASW site under the “About NASW” tab.

The Delegate Assembly is the representative, decision-making body — comprised of 277 delegates — through which NASW members establish program priority goals and develop a collective stance on public and professional policies. The Delegate Assembly meets once every three years. The 2017 Assembly will hold its culminating meeting on Aug. 4, 2017.  Any member intending to propose changes to the Code of Ethics or to the NASW Bylaws (relating only to those articles in the purview of the DA) should email Sue Jashinsky. She will provide the guidelines and format for submitting proposed changes. The proposals will need to be written and submitted in final form and per the guidelines, by June 17, 2016.

NASW urges social workers to vote

The National Association of Social Workers has a tool on our web site that helps people find their candidates and connects them to the agency in their jurisdiction to register to vote. Each state, the District of Columbia and territories have different rules around voter registration. NASW encourages all social workers to register and vote. As the 2016 election approaches, we will be endorsing candidates for election. As a member, you can view our past endorsements.
