NASW Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

More Free HIPAA Teleconferences

One-hour teleconferences on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements will be offered by NASW Legal Defense Fund staff on Sept. 18, Sept. 22, Oct. 14 and Oct. 17, 2003, at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Participants should be aware of the following points:

1. Call the HIPAA Teleconference Line — (800) 416-8128 — 10 minutes before your selected date and time and enter passcode number 255176. No registration is required.

2. Part of the teleconference will cover material on the NASW Web site. Check out the HIPAA section of the site — www.socialworkers.org
/hipaa — before your teleconference to familiarize yourself with the material. During the teleconference, it will be helpful, but not necessary, for you to be online at the NASW Web site.

3. Parts of the Web site will require you to login as an NASW member. To get your username and password, if you don’t already have them, call NASW Membership Services at (800) 742-4089.

4. Guidelines for Participation: Quietly listen until you are called on to speak. It is not necessary to announce yourself when connecting with the teleconference. Make sure you have a quiet location free of disturbing background noises or use a telephone with the Mute button turned on. Do not put the teleconference call on hold for any reason. If you need to leave the call, quietly disconnect and call back when you are ready to rejoin the call.
